Job Description

Plumbing General Manager(Must have Iowa Plumbing License or grader(preferred Master License)

Primary Purpose of Position

The Plumbing Department General Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and optimizing all aspects of the plumbing department. Under the direction of the Branch General Manager(BM), this role oversees plumbing operations, drives growth, and ensures customer satisfaction while upholding company values and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Departmental Leadership & Management

  • Plan, direct, and control daily operations of the plumbing division.

  • Promote company core values and support strategic goals.

  • Lead by example and foster a collaborative, healthy, and performance-driven work environment.

  • Conduct weekly department meetings to review goals, performance, and expectations.

  • Develop team members and identify candidates for promotion.

  • Schedule and provide internal and external training to all plumbing personnel.

Operational Oversight

  • Develop and execute operational plans aligned with company objectives and KPIs.

  • Assist with day-to-day management of dispatch, customer service, maintenance, and field teams.

  • Oversee inventory, pricing, fleet maintenance, labor management, safety, and service quality.

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.

Customer Service & Growth

  • Drive customer satisfaction and long-term relationship development.

  • Address customer concerns promptly and within company guidelines.

  • Implement service systems and quality control measures to enhance customer experience.

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies, promotions, and lead generation initiatives.

Performance & Financial Accountability

  • Collaborate with President on annual budgeting and performance planning.

  • Track technician productivity and monitor departmental KPIs.

  • Lead the execution of business plans, incentive programs, and internal performance contests.

  • Support the timely collection of payments following service delivery.

Technology & Innovation

  • Identify and implement cost-effective technologies to improve department efficiency.

  • Use approved tools to streamline service delivery, reporting, and communication.

Training & Development

  • Conduct regular training in areas such as:

  • Customer service

  • Sales techniques

  • Time management

  • Technical competencies

  • Safety and compliance

  • Coordinate additional training with vendors and conduct cross-training initiatives within the department and across other teams.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening.

  • Basic math and problem-solving skills.

  • Advanced plumbing knowledge and familiarity with local building codes.

  • Must have Iowa Plumbing License or grader(preferred Master License)

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and follow through on tasks.

  • Consistent attendance and strong work ethic.

  • Capable of meeting the physical demands of the role.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in plumbing methods, tools, and materials.

  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve plumbing issues effectively.

  • Strong track record of meeting performance targets and deadlines.

Working Conditions

  • Regular lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs.

  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.

  • Ability to work from heights using ladders, scaffolds, or mechanical lifts.

  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat and cold.

  • Visual and auditory ability to perform technical tasks and communicate effectively.
